ArchiOffice Discussion > Whither BuilderOffice?

Over the years I keep seeing tantalizing hints about BuilderOffice, most recently in the November AIA Tools for Practice. As possibly one of the earliest non-architect users of ArchiOffice, this is my holy grail (or is it Bigfoot--a folk legend, a chimera, a myth, much-rumored but never seen?). So, lay it on me Steve. When will my hopes for a software solution based on my own industry be realized?

best,

Kent

Hi Kent,

Nice to hear from you. BuilderOffice is on our radar. However, we are currently totally focused on a short-term objective related to our "next generation" of ArchiOffice and EngineerOffice. Once we achieve this goal later this year, we will begin mapping out the DesignerOffice and BuilderOffice products.

If you can prepare your own specification on features that you would like included, please send these to me and I'll see to it that they are considered.

Please keep in mind that our company is not venture capital funded. We are privately owned and funded totally through our own sales. We run our business like our customers run theirs - because we intend to be here for the long term. As such, we move a little slower than you might like, but that is also what makes us stable. I can't stand it when software I love is bought by some other (bigger), company and they kill it. We're doing everything we can to make the best software possible for the AEC industry and control our future.

Steve,

Let me know if you are still developing BuilderOffice. It would be nice to know where you are and where you are going with it. I have used ArchiOffice for about three years but have switched teams and am now working with a small General Contracting company. I have been looking and looking for a builder specific software that rivals ArchiOffice and have found nothing that I feel comfortable with. Even if BuilderOffice is not yet developed (better yet), I would love to share my thoughts on useful features. Just let me know!

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,

I hear you. We still have BuilderOffice on our drawing boards - but have been preoccupied with getting the v9 version of ArchiOffice and EngineerOffice complete first. We expect this to be done in the beginning of the 2nd quarter in 2009 and then will be able to turn our attention to DesignerOffice and BuilderOffice.

Thanks for checking.

Steve
