ArchiOffice Discussion > ArchiOffice v8.9.1 & ArchiOffice 9
Robert -
It sounds like you are on a PC platform. We are on Macs, but the issues I am having are very similar to yours. We just had to upgrade our server to new apple server software and install new BIM software that required a move to Snow Leopard and and intel based mac server. We found out that to do that we'd have to upgrade our version of filemaker, which we only truly use for ArchiOffice. It has become increasingly frustrating being told that AOv9 is going to be released and now they have missed the date by almost a year. We've actually given up on the file management portion of archioffice and have moved all our files over to the "new" server. All of the Archioffice databases reside on our "old" server. Our understanding was that AOv9 would map the server drives and that the old/current system of checking files into the database would be a thing of the past. So...we abandoned the document/file management portion of AOv9, in hopes that the new version, which we paid for in the spring, would be out ASAP. No sense in spending hundreds of dollars on new software to run old software, if some other new software will be out that makes the others obsolete.
Thanks.
Greg
Hi Gregory,
Steven Burns said that there should be an announcement coming soon about ArchiOffice 9. It'll be interesting to see that and how that is going to affect our situations. I think it will make life a little easier.

Hi Steven,
I've just read your Oct 2009 newsletter and have a couple quick questions... First, in the Windows 7 note, you have a link for the system requirements. I saw in there that you have listed FileMaker Pro v9.x. I am currently running the FileMaker Pro 8.0v3 that came with ArchiOffice. Also, I was surprised to see a lack of information regarding ArchiOffice v9. This leads me to a couple questions:
1) When is ArchiOffice v9 going to be released (or status)?
2) Do I need to upgrade to FileMaker Pro v9/10 or is v8 still o.k.?
3) Are there new things in ArchiOffice v8.9.1 which won't work with FileMaker v8?
4) All the computers in the office are nearing the end of their expected life--replacements will probably be Windows 7 platforms. When will ArchiOffice be able to operate on Windows 7?
5) Conclusion questions: Should I be waiting for ArchiOffice 9? Should I be trying to upgrade our FileMaker Pro's? How long should I wait before starting to replace computers?
I fully understand that you don't have exact answers to my questions, but do you have any insights and recommendations?
--Thanks,
